First have nothing connected follow the instructions below you will connect the cable and the phone last.
*In the phone monitor options make sure all ports are enabled and not reserved this wont affect anything else and that your phone is listed.
* In phone and modem in control panel make sure your regular modem dosnt use com 3 mine does and thats why I had to use com2 (I forgot). Also if you installed sony dial up networking the cel will show there too as another modem(dont worry about that now). plug in cable and look
* In device manager make sure it actually says prolific usb serial cable and theres no yellow tag or you need to reinstall the drivers again and that it matches the other com-port settings. Now make sure that you use the same usb port to plug it in to. then turn on and plug in the phone last. then open fma and try to connect. If it dosnt work on com 3 try 2 or 4.
Then go to fma window see if you are showing version 31c if not go to help and chech for udates.
Then go into options/communications/ disable IRMCsync and obex
Then go to options/connect/ and set to 9800 baud
Also go back into mobile phone monitor and disable all ports except one you are using. I dont have this problem but someone else did.
Restart everything and try to connect you may not get all info from phone but you should be able to send to phone now.

Fma is compatible with t226 and t230. You just dont have some features when it comes to getting stuff from phone to comp.
I did a little research and not knowing where you get hung up at heres some other things to apply.
First go to fma window see if you are showing version 31c if not go to help and chech for udates.
If still having tbl tell me what error and when.

I installed MPM, SE Image Editor, and FMA. FMA appears to work, as I can connect and read the info from the phone, but I can't upload any files (which I understand is a software problem).
I can connect with MPM (it showed "Connected" under Status), however, I can't seem to transfer any files. SE Image Editor and SendFile would also recongize my phone, but when I try to sent any files, the error message I get is SE Image editor - "Failed to transfer the image to the phone", and SendFile - "Fail to Connect".
Does anyone know why this is happening? Do I have to change any setting on the T226 before I can do file transfer? Please help!
Thank you!!!
