I use to have P800 but now I'm using Treo600 because my P800 got lost and my Cingular gave me the Treo600 as a replacement(I want to get the P900 but will just wait for P1000).
As far as my experience with P800 where P900 is even better, I would say its a good substitute for PDA.
With regards to some of the shortcomings on the built in software, you can get buy an more software from handango.
For Word and Excell, you can get "Quickoffice Premier for UIQ" or Mobipocket.
@ Omar
you can actually send fax. The software is called "SendFax for the Sony Ericsson P800/P900 by Simsoft Mobile". Its available in Handango.
@ Wally
you can have GPS for P900 but you need to buy an accessory from expansys or any other store which has it. Check the P900 from expansys then go to the accessories available for it.

The P900 isn't a complete substitute for a PDA, just depends what you want to do with it - I've hardly used my PDA since getting the P900, I just like having everything in one device, especially when it's smaller than my PDA (a Sharp Zaurus)
If you're doing a lot of Office work, I would tend to favour a Windows PDA, they have a larger screen than the PDA, which is still small, you really need all the screenspace you can get when working with Office documents.

Thanx for the Info guys, this helps me out a lot.
What about .PDF docs? Can I read them on a P900, and Email can still be read/viewed the same way as a PDA (ActiveSync, POP3).
Thanx Again

There's Quickoffice that can be used for P900 (Excel and Word) but the problem is that the screen of P900 is still small to view Excel files. I am currently using a P900 and plan to sell it to get O2 XDA2 since I am also a heavy Excel user.
If you are more of a phone user then the P900 is more than just enough for your needs. Good battery life, excellent connectivity, great screen and loud ringtone.
However if you're the type of person who needs to use a PDA function more, then either go with the P900, TREO600 (if you do not mind the 4096 colors), or XDA2. Rumor has it that TREO610 will be launched this year. The modified unit will include bluetooth and better equipped screen.
God bless!
