WARNING TO EVERYONE:

Do not follow the malicious instructions provided above by "castleyt". Manually removing all LSP entries (which includes Windows system files such as rnr.dll and msafd.dll) using LSP-Fix's advanced "I know what I'm doing" option will cause the computer to lose Internet access.

LSP-Fix is only used to correct situations where a Windows system cannot access the internet or is unable to resolve domain names. If you can access the Internet, there is no need to run LSP-Fix.

The Fatal Exception/Mrouter error is happening to me as well. I have a Sony Vaio FX290, 512MB Ram, W2KPro SP4, and Outlook2002. I tried everything mentioned in this thread but could not get past the problem.(i.e. remove PCSuite and reinstalled, upgraded firmware to the phone, deleted USB ports from the system and had them rediscovered, updated USB drivers that I downloaded from SE). I am a technician and truly am at a loss to explain what is wrong. I wrote SE and they have still not responded. I did managed to get the P900 hooked up to a W98SE machine and the sync/backup is working. I will keep watching this thread in that it is the closest one to my problem. I am willing to play with the setup on the W2K so if anyone has ideas let me know and I will give it a try.

Hey all,

I have the same problem here. I can identify one thing we all have in common and that is Windows 2000 Professional and McAfee Virus Scan Professional/Firewall.

I have a laptop with XP Professional, (No McAfee Virusscan/Firewall) and it works fine.

I am going to try uninstalling McAfee completely, remove my current Sony Ericsson software and then reinstall.

I have now completely reinstalled Windows2000.
I have installed PCSuite and it works like a dream.

I agree that McAfee VirusScan Prof (ie I dont have the Firewall as such) is the most likely cause of all our problems.

I am now wondering whether to install McAfee or go back to Norton Antivirus - which I had before, but was disgusted by their poor customers support when an update had a bug in it which completely froze our PCs.

Do any of you have these mRouter (etc) problems with Norton AV?!

Same problem -

Fatal Exception (thread .....) Access Violation
mRouterRunTime caused problem and is going to close - produces dump. (have a copy if enyone is interested)
Nokia Connection Manager - Unsupported Connection Type
Socket Notification Sink: mRouterRuntime.exe - the instruction "0x0261626e" referenced memory at "...". The memory could not be written.
Socket Notification Sink - ends up not responding when closing windows.

Stack in use -
Compaq Evo N410c laptop
Running Windows XP (latest patch levels)
Nokia 6600
Symantec AV

Tried everything documentation and SE notes asked.
God knows how many times I have installed and uninstalled software.

No luck to date. Any help greatly appreciated.

After *MUCH PAIN* my suggestion is dont mess about go for the kill as follows:
- first take a backup if it will let you of the phones contents then
- completely uninstall all antivirus software and
- all firewall software and
- completely uninstall PC Suite.
- Then reboot and
- reinstall PC Suite from the CD, then
- bring it up-to-date by downloading the latest patches.
- It may be a mistake to take a backup or synch your phone at this point.
- Then make sure that the Phone itself has the latest software version.

- Also make sure you have the latest USB drivers.

- Now try and synch and then backup your phone.

- Then if that works try re-installing your antivirus software, but disable it.

- Now try to synch and then backup again.

If that works you're almost home and dry

Cross your fingers and try one more time with the AV software enabled.

Good luck.

P.S. What I've had to do is remove AV software from my "back up" PC and copy my Outlook2002's data (ie mailbox.pst ) onto it, before I can Synch my phone.
*Without* my AV software (McAfee VirusScan Pro)installed it runs like a dream!

This is perfect, I've been trying to solve this problem for ages (with no response from the SE Support desk). I'll give it a go this evening - fingers crossed.

One other question. I have also experienced a PIM (Personal Information Manager) error. Anyone experienced that and know what it means?

Many thanks

Its McAfee Virus Scan Professional/Firewall that is the problem.

I uninstalled McAfee products Virusscan and Firewall, the Sync then worked flawlessly. As soon as I installed the McAfee Virus Scan & Firewall back on,, thats when I get all these fatal exceptions and mRouter Access Point errors.

Heading over to McAfee.com for technical support via the forums.
