I have only tried Red Hat (v 6.2 then about 2-3 years ago), and I was able to install it without having to lose my marbles.
Mandrake 7.2 more than a year ago. I didn't have any problem with it too (well, except for the winmodem that used to have so it wasn't much of a use to me then). I think I'm gonna re-install Mandrake 8.2 soon, I want my hands to get "dirty" again
If you can install windows, i think mandrake would be easy enough. Installing it is one thing, making yourself productive with it is another

It is free. But not in the sense that there were no exchange of money, but in the sense that you are "licensed' to modify the software as long as you release the modification too.
(this "license" varies from one distro to another, but holds true in general)

Ta mean thanks, a bit of a slang lesson there for you, hope you never come to New Zealand if you don't get English language slang, we don't speak anything else, all the English people where I work have real trouble understanding it, so it'd be a nightmare for you. He he I kept expecting some of it to come out of Jango Fett's mouth in Star Wars, he's a really well known Kiwi actor.....
