> No Sim Card Error Being Annoying
Bookmark topic
Well, it's happening more and more often here and it doesn't have anything to do with the Sim not making contact with the phone properly. I put a piece of paper between the sim and the battery, to ensure the Sim was pushed against the contacts firmly and that made no difference whatsoever.

Somone else I know who has the same problem also lives in the Netherlands like me, and also has a very old BEN-Simcard (mine is over 6 years old).
How about the people here that have the same problems?

A friend of mine had the same problem and the solution was to buy a new phone. He didnt bother to take the phone to a service center since he had the phone for three years and wanted to get a new one.
The car is dirty? Why bother? Lets buy a new one!
Now thats a nice way to solve a problem!

@whuzz: have you tried other simcards in your phone? Or your simcard in another phone. I had an old dutchtone simcard which wasn't working properly anymore too after a long time.

That's not really a sollution is it? He still doesn't know what caused the problem, so it doesn't help us either. My P900 is less than 6 months old and even if I had the money to buy a new one it would still be a stupid thing to do.
@ Bianca:
I'm going to test with some other simcards soon, hopefully today.

Get a grip man. Dont take yourself so seriously. Where is your sence of humour?
You want an answer?
Two reasons for this problem. One is that there is a bad contact between the sim card and the sim card slot and the other is that there is probably a software/hardware fault in the phone and must be taken to a service center.

I have lost that together with the proper functioning of an 800 Euro costing mobile phone within 6 months of purchase.

Wow, that is amazing! How did you figure those two possibilities out?
Well.. duh.
As I already wrote, the first one is not the problem, read the thread to find out why not.
The second one cóuld be the case, as I had already concluded, but it doesn't have to be. It might be a faulty SIM, or something the network tries to do that causes an error in the phone.
You take it all very lightly (hey, it's broken, go to an SE center), but the fact that I am not the only one with this problem means that its worth taking a closer look at. For all we know, your P900/800 (if you happen to have one, and yes, the problem seems to appear in 800's too) might be next...
This doesn't seem to be 'just a broken P900', it appears to be more of a structural problem and thus it more or less concerns all P800/900 owners and that is why I ám taking this seriously.
And about my sense of humor, nothing wrong with it. I just don't see much fun in my expensive phone not working at random intervals.

I would expect more from SE as well for such amount of money invested on a mobile/pda device. I currently use a P800 and a P900 and yes I get annoyed when I get several errors displayed on the screen.

a friend of mine had this problem.
Replacing the SIM card resolved it.
If you clean your contacts (Both the sim and the phone's SIM contacts) and the problem still occurs, you should replace your SIM first.

I'm testing with another SIMcard in my phone now. Also testing my own card in another phone at the same time. No crashes on either phone yet. The other phone is not a P900 though, so that might not exclude the simcard being a problem on all phones...
