@BOOYAR, it's like this:
Phone- free
1 months rental at £70- £70
11 months at £10- 110
Unlocking- £5
That's a brand new unlocked P9 for £185, but there are no inclusive minutes as it is used for data calls only. For voice calls add another £5 per month.

I though Orange policy was to stay on the first tariff for at least 3 months, then you can change over - or is that o2?

just that i'd been on orange for ages, was very happy with everything but that their range of handsets was rubbish, the p900 was the only decent thing they did but that i could get it on another network for £50 (which is clearly rubbish!) so i wanted to terminate my contract. he went on for a bit about customer service and how they wanted to keep me, he couldnt manage £50 but could do it for £75 which was fine by me, signed up for another year, everyone's happy, same number, same contract, new phone. you just need to play hardball with them a bit, good luck!

I also managed to upgrade for a good price. I upgraded from my p800 to the p900 for £30.
They will 1st offer you the upgrade for £199.
You can then say that this is ridiculous when you can start a new contract and get it for next to nothing (by starting at a high contract and then moving down after 1 month etc)...
... Of course you would be prepared to start a new contract with Orange because you've been so happy with them etc. but you are not able to port your number within a network...
... Therefore you're probably going to move to Vodafone/3 unless you can get a better price on the phone...
...Done deal, new p900 for £30
PS You want to try to get put through to the retentions department who have more power at giving you a good deal compared to the standard customer service reps.
Good Luck!

deffinatly talk to rententions rather than the usual upgrade monkeys, its easy really, theres so much competition people are falling over themselves to hold on to customers

@andysam
When did you do this and what was the original tariff you signed up to? Didn't know there was one for £70 on Orange.
I would try the upgrade route but I've got Virgin OVP on line one and Every Day 50 on line 2. So my rental is c. £9/month and I get 1500/month off peak free minutes. Orange would prefer me to get one of their newer tariffs so they won't cut me any deal.

I'm on the anytime 200 or something, 30quid a month reckon i've got a chance? Been with orange 4 years but only with the current number for 1year cos i signed a new contract. Not due for an upgrade for a couple of months but would like to get an idea of what i'm doing.
Was gonna get a k700 cos the p9 is out of my price range but looks like i can hope finally
