the charger uses the small bit to the left of the port on the bottom of the phone. Whereas the cable to connect to computer uses the whole port.
Works the sames as it would if you plugged the radio handsfree set into the phone, or the MP3 player.

@
alexious: You are right! The CD that was included in the cable-pack contained some USB drivers.

Yeah, it takes up all the black bit on the bottom of the phone, don't know if you get the idea from this pic, but you can see it has 4 clips to hold it in place and they fit into the 4 holes on bottom of phone.

don't think it makes a diff, i used this cable with my t68i, and now i use it for my t610, didn't get a new one when i got the phone, and it hasn't made much difference.
Don't use it much now anyway due to bluetooth, but it makes the phone so much more fun to use when you combine it with programs like FMA

usb and serial will be the same speed. the usb drivers you install with the usb cable installed an emulated serial connection, so its actually just the same speed.

The USB cable is just a serial cable with a built-in USB-serial adapter. So they should function the same.
Don't buy a USB cable unless it comes with software driver.
The after-market SE cables are all identical, as long it says it's for T39 or newer models. (Don't get the T28xx ones, they are for unlocking).

all USB cables come with a software CD, but i found my WinXP Pro computer at work recognised it straight out of the box (plug and play). i installed the drivers anyway though.
