I too have the nice black cover off ebay and have done the 'transplant'
The P800 now looks mega sleek!
There are four screws to tackle with a no:7 Torx driver 2 under the lower front panel and 2 under the rear upper right cover. The body its self is held together by spring clips incorperated in the housing its self (check them on the new case first) Once the screws are out the complete old case will be able to unclipped. You will need to remove the screen connector from the main board and remove the jog dail ,speaker ,camera lense and another little bit that I have no idea what its does. Work on one piece at a time and replace into the new case, you can't go wrong.
In all took me approx 1-1 1/2 hours.
STUuk I too have had this problem before I changed the cover, I think it was a bit of dodgy software. The cure was a master reset and then reinstall my choosen software, now works fine.

Just be careful about these spare facias sold on ebay, some people have been saying that the quality is really crap and that the paint starts to wear out only a couple of days after...apparently only original SE facias are worth the money....there's another thread I've seen about this, you should search for "p900 housing", im sure it will come up...
I wanted a black one too

Hmm... I must be lost, I swear mine had screws holding on the mothborad! I am sure of it! Or maybe it does and you dont need to unscrew them. I had to unscrew them when I tired to put the P900 case on the P800!

I think you would be well advised to spray a coating of (matte or gloss) clear paint to seal the paint in. You could buy small cans at an arts shop or a model shop for about £2.
I had to use a T8 driver to open my case, I think that SE have been using different kinds of screws for different production dates as I've heard everything from T6 to T8 being needed.
