> Yet another iCal and iSync problem
Bookmark topic
i once found my 32Mb duo to be 80% full, but i only had a bunch of pictures on it, and some ebooks.
turns out that there is a "trash" directory on the drive that weighed in at around 25Mb.
not sure that's a symbian trash folder, or a mac folder since i use a card reader to get stuff onto and off the duo.
in any case, while you sort out the memory problem on the p800, you could export all your data on your windows machine to comma seperated value files (.csv), transfer to the mac and import.
i think you need to do it seperately for every category, like "contacts.csv" , "calendar.csv" , etc.
hope that helped.

Can't sync:
I'm another with a problem paring my P900 with iSync. As I go through the process of setting up a new Bluetooth devise my computer finds my phone (and visa versa), but when I am asked to select the services I want, I can't click on the 'Set up iSync to transfer contacts and events'. I am only able to select 'Use with Address Book' and 'Access the Internet...'. What am I doing wrong? How can I get this thing to work?
Using a G4 PowerBook, OS 10.3.4, iSync 1.4, and Bluetooth 1.5
Please help.
Simon

Try this
link
It helped me get my iSync working with my P900 after I did the firmware update (stupid mistake).

Simon, try reinstalling all apps concerned as I did on mine. I still couldn't select the 'Set up iSync to transfer contacts and events' option, but I was able to sync iCal with my P900 Calendar anyway.

I found that my P900 refuses to iSync when Salling Clicker is active - if I quit Salling Clicker, iSync runs smoothly again.
Seems logical to me.
Oh, and "Set up iSync to transfer contacts and events" is unavailable for me also when I run BT setup assistant, yet iCal still syncs fine anyway - go figure. So, just go ahead and pair sans that option, and iCal should sync regardless of this erroneous setup process.

All those "." prefixed files that appear on your Memory Stick after accessing it on a Mac are tiny, invisible Mac OS X (well, *nix) files which can be safely deleted without affecting your stick, or the files it contains.
The file ".DS_Store", for example, contains window settings for the directory in which it resides. Deleting it will simply cause Mac OS X to "forget" where the said window was last placed, it's last view type (icons, list, columns) etc. and will thus display the window with default global settings.
Although they're a necessary part of Mac OS X, it's kind of annoying these files are placed on removable media when you're intending to use that media on a different OS, such as Windows, Symbian etc. These invisible files are of course completely visible in other OS', and can cause unnecessary confusion for the unaware (P900's Music app sometimes freaks out when it encounters these, thus I religiously delete all "." prefixed files I can find on my memory stick before using it with my Symbian apps).
I recall there being an app for Mac OS X that you can run on a folder/directory to flush out all the ".DS_Store" it contains... can't for the life of me remember what it was called.

I am still having trouble... Have installed new updated versions of iSync and Bluetooth. I threw out preferences, etc. Restarted everything a few times before trying again, and still no change. I can pair the P900 with my PowerBook, but can't get anything to happen with iSync. Scan for devises doesn't work or anything.
I don't use Salling Clicker. Once I was able to make calls using the AddressBook, but not now.
My PowerBook doesn't have IR, so I can use that. is there no way I can use the USB cable and cradle; no third party connections.
Right now my phone looks good and takes unnecessary pictures, but my reason for spending all this money has been wasted.

Simon,
Have you been keeping your Firmware up-to-date? The (rather informative)
link that
dma posted earlier explains a situation where updating the Firmware can cause iSync to fail.
My Firmware has never been updated since I bought my phone a few months ago. I can only attribute this to my relative success with iSync. (I can't update, it seems my phone must've been originally network locked, then unlocked by the store I bought it from [parallel HK importer], which prevents me from updating... but that's another story, and possibly a blessing in disguise considering the problems Firmware updating can cause).
For the record, my specs are:
P900:
Phone - CXC162022 R3C006
Bluetooth: CXC12529 R5D
Organizer: CXC162026 R1A08
CDA: CDA162003/13 R1A08
Mac:
Model: PowerBook 17" (1Ghz)
OS: Mac OS X 10.3.4
Bluetooth: Firmware update 1.5 applied
iSync: 1.4 (v132)
Perhaps a comparison of this with your setup will help. If you'd like any more info regarding my setup, I'm happy to oblige.
And don't be dismayed, if I and others can get ours to work, I'm sure with help, you can too - even if it means having to waiting for future updates from either Apple, SE, or both.

Oh, and there appears to be absolutely no way yet for us to use the USB cradle with Mac OS X - I've searched long and hard, and the general consensus is that it's just not possible.
Nevertheless, I still remain hopeful that it's not IMpossible, and that someone smarter than I will someday develop a solution to this
But then, I've always been hopelessly optimistic
(Hopelessly optimistic? Is that an oxymoron?)

I've had bluetooth file exchange problem, whereby it says not supported or something like that (Obex?) have to turn p900 off then on again.
Just put 128 duo in and transferring songs on, is p900 at fault or cos new duo on board?

I purchased my phone with r4xxx firmware (can't remember exactly what the number was) and it would sync with iSync perfectly. After my firmware update, no dice. So if you are contemplating updating your firmware PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE research BEFORE doing it.
Hopefully a new version of iSync will be out soon.
