I'm not talking about how much it 'says' Tracker is using but actually what affect it has on the amount of FREE RAM.
I'm very familiar with how much my phone usually has and it uses about 1MB regardless of what SMan or similar things say it is using.
Try the same thing with a fancy game. Something like Lemmings or V-Rally, if you look in the list it'll only show these apps to be using a hundred or a couple of hundred KB of RAM but then look at how much is free and u'll see they are actually using several MB!
Try it.

what other app can be used to manage memory other than sman.
Does tracker has its own memomry managment tool or need to install sman as well

Tracker has 'close all apps' and 'compress memory'
There is also TaskMan, I believe made by the same people as Tracker.
Switcher is also good.
I think there are many more but really they all do the same thing

I see what you mean. Even though Taskman says 150-160k, when i closed Tracker I released 500k of RAM. Still that's nowhere near 1MB or even more. Never paid much attention to this to be honest, cos I never have too many apps running at the same time, so i never get out of memory error. I was only concentrated on battery drain and I haven't noticed that happening.
Have you ever checked how much RAM HandyDay + Sman combo uses?

Sorry no I've never tried Handy Day but I have just, er, 'obtained' HandyDay 2004 so I'll give it a go.
I use SMan all the time and it doesn't seem to have any major effect on it's own
