Thanks ShawO, I missed your post, cause I was searching for Invalid Mobile.
It makes sense, as I know the telcos here are a bit overcrowded the last few months. And it explains why I only get the problem here in Belgium.
Of course, when I give a call to the telco, they tell me it is a phone problem.
I still believe the phone should reconnect automatically when a connection can be made again, and not stay in a locked position until I shut down and restart it.
Maybe with the latest firmware....

invalid mobile happens when your phone has given up trying...
afaik: no firmware update will solve this matter
what i did was i got a new simcard from another telco, digged up 1 of my old phones, slotted the problematic simcard into that phone and set it to divert calls to my new number
so... it's just sitting on my desktop happily diverting calls with no base stations to jump

How about switching network but taking your number with you? I assume its possible in belgium because you cam even port in the uk if your a prepay user.

Had a full signal but No Network message.
I wonder is the phone that you have a SIM free phone that your service provider doesn't support.
I got my old t39 as a SIM free phone from a O2 Ireland shop but Vodafone Ireland never sold the phone for its network.
After a few weeks I got the No Network message from Vodafone.
I know that all GSM phones should work on all eligible networks but can service providers block phones that they haven't 'tested'.
That said my SIM free T610 has been perfect for the last year.

Try and goto the networks menu. Under pref nets set your provider to option 1. Does this fix it?
If the network signal is no\low you will get "SOS calls only"

The fact is I finally got the time to have the firmware upgraded and the SIM changed for a new one (free, from the same operator).
Result: No more Invalid Mobile message.
But because I did both at the same time, I still don't know for sure which of the two was the reason. Although I have a clue as my wife is now using my T39 (with which I had the same problem) and never has the problem although she is with the same operator. So, must be the SIM which was faulty, I guess.
