EX-Z4 has a mic, and has an ikkle speaker so you can listen to everything
I've got loads of photos taken with it
here* , if you ever need an idea of how pics come out.
*Most pics taken in a drunken state so quality and subject varies.

I've had a quick look at some of the pub quiz ones and the work ones and it doesn't seem to handle artifical light very well? there seems to be alot of orange in those pics. have you noticed that?
but then alot of other indoor pics you have seem perfect so maybe those others were just very very low light?
The Carl Zeiss lens is another reason I like the Sonys, they do seem to make a difference, though I'm no professional photographer so can't really say why

ah sorry, forgot i sorted out my photos the other day
the first few sets are with a really crummy 1.3megapixel cam that doesnt have a flash....
It's the photos taken after january of this year that are with my EX-Z4. I'd say all the photos i've posted on here recently are taken with it aswell

thanks jowi for the website, and thanks mixin for the recommendation. unfortunately it's still a little over-budget for me, given my estimated frequency of use and lack of photographic skill.
i'm looking for something more in the vicinity of the Nikon Coolpix 3700 or the Sony DSC-P8. does anyone have experience with either of these? (the bloke in Ted's - a camera store chain here in Australia - was pretty keen on the Nikon, but they don't stock Sony anymore).

@gelfen: please dont think im trying to hijack your topic, but it just seems pointless to open another one, pointless because it will be closed. Masseur's reactions are very swift lately.

@folling: that's ok. it seems we're both after the same sort of thing.
@merovingian: thanks for the tip. unfortunately the ixus 400 is no longer available in australia, and has recently been replaced by the 430 (and still with the outdated movie mode

). since it's still pretty new down under, the price is just a bit out of my league because i still have to buy memory and a few other odds and ends.
