surely the battery life of both phones is the same - esato seem to think so (http://www.esato.com/phones/index.php/phone=33,cp=107). the P9 needs a bigger battery to do the same thing because it has a more power-hungry screen.

the p9 also has slightly more memory, but that's the only internal difference.

why is it so much more? because people will pay it...

Having used both phones I would say that the P900's battery life is better than that of the P800, although to be fair it is only a slight improvement, still any improvement in battery life is better than no improvement.
When you say 'slightly more memory' I feel you are being somewhat misleading, since the P900 has more memory 16 MB internal memory as well as 32 MB on the Memory Stick, which comes with it. This is in comparison to the 12 MB of internal memory available on the P800 and the 16 MB of memory available on the Memory Stick supplied. Simple arithmetic will show that this is a 33% increase in internal memory and a 100% increase in external memory, I would hardly call those figures 'slight'.
My advice to anyone thinking of buying either the P800 or the P900 would be to consider if they would use all the features these phones provide, if not then I would advise buying either as it would be a waste of money. At the most basic level any buyer must decide which phone best fits his criteria, whether that is cost, looks, features, etc and then choose appropriately. Personally I would hold off until the end of the year when the P900's successor will be released, but if you need one right now then I would go with the P900 if you are willing to get a contract as it represents the best value, but otherwise the P800 on Pay As You Go since that won't tie you into a contract with a piece of hardware that, by the end of the year, will be two generations out of date in terms of smartphones.

The differences:
- Electrical flip with backlight (on the P800, the buttons only touch the touchscreen)
- Better screen (transreflective) with more colors and better contrast
- A real stylus (you no longer have to use the memory stick cover)
- Thinner casing
- Better physical build quality (less squeaking noises etc.)
- Native video recording
- Subjective: nicer design

That's all for now, I think.

That would be up to you. Arithmetic aside, the net effect of the memory increase in the real world is, indeed, "slight".

The increase is far from slight, it allows one to install more apps onto the device, I think that alone is reason enough to be happy with the memory increase, not to mention more pictures, videos, etc

P800 - GOOD!!!
P900 - BETTER!!!

Obviously, the P900 is an improved version of the P800... check and compare their respective reviews...

better battery? i think they are the same? maybe better power economy is what is meant. the 800 had a voice recorder too i believe. the big difference is the video record function and the more adult business man styling.

Internally, you're talking about enough extra memory for one mp3 (just). Big deal. Externally, the doubled memory stick is still too small to be really useful, and best replaced by a 128mb model. Frugal P800 purchasers will doubtless find that additional expenditure much easier to stomach..

If the P900 had been a significant upgrade in memory terms (and if it qualified as a genuine "next generation" device) then we'd be talking about it having at least twice the internal memory, and it would naturally support Duo Pro memory sticks to address the genuine shortcomings of the P800's storage - just as everyone expected it to. We aren't, and it doesn't, because as we know those significant upgrades haven't happened yet. Internally, the P900 and the P800 are essentially the same - with the same shortcomings - but some slight improvements in the later model...

@marceta

Now you can buy P900 in Belgrade for 600EUR (maybe less if you look hard enough)!
