I will contact my local SE center and ask them to repair it. It is 3 years old and I just need it run for another 2 months.
Thanks

Hi All. This is my first post to the forum. It is a great knowledgebase.
Anyways, my problem is that the T68M I have has got this problem. It will keep switching on and off all the time. It has just started happening today so I do not know what is wrong? Any help would be appreciated. I know that I had charged the battery 2 days ago and I do not use the phone that often.
I would hate to get a new phone as I am waiting for the K700 to come out in the UK on Orange or TMobile networks. Until then I would like to get thru on this phone.
Again, any help will be appreciated.

a quite common fault among older T68 phones. If a firmware upgrade doesn't solve it, it's caused by a bad BGA circuit on the PCB, fixing this after warranty has expired can be quite expensive, depending on if the circuit need to be replaced or just resoldered (the last thing is usually just a temporary solution).

One more point. I had all my phone numbers on the phone and not on the SIM. Is there any way to retrieve them if SE tell me that the cost will be uneconomical to repair the phone.
And I know that storing the numbers on the phone was stupid but no one is perfect...

it wasnt stupid to store your numbers in the fone, thats the way t68 works perfect, the numbers in the fone has privileg positions next to the sim card. as u noticed probably, to 1 name u can store 5 different numbers, this u can to do if u store all your numbers to the fone. copy them to the simcard or sync it with pc if it is. in case u had more numbers to 1 name, on the simcard the differnet numbers will look this way kenny/H kenny/W etc. H is for home, W is for work, M is for mobile etc. if u put your sim in to another se fone with all the features t68 has and copy from sim to the fone, the numbers will be placed automatically to the right positions back.

I would also suspect dodgy firmware on the phone, so get it sent off to a service centre. Either that, if there isn't a service centre nearby, try the local Carphone Warehouse. I took my P800 there, and despite me not getting the phone from them, they've sent it off for a firmware update - and theyre not charging me!
If it turns out to be something more serious, get yourself a cheap secondhand phone off Ebay or a ask some mates if they have any spare phones you could buy/borrow off them for the next couple of months.
If you decide to buy one off Ebay, T68is tend to go for around £40-£60, or if you want something cheaper, you could get a Nokia 3310 for around £20-£25. Boy am I going to get flamed for suggesting that phone!!

You may have a problem with the battery. Try removing it, and them put it back. When I had that problem, it was magically solved when I've accidentally sit on it

in order to retrieve them you need to start up the phone. Meaning, it might need to be fixed (change of BGA ciruit, firmware upgrade or whatever needs to be done) before the phone book can be transfered.
