if you have a firewall try disabling it before connecting the phone. I use Norton Internet Security and when the firewall is active I can sync etc but "MY P900" continues to say not connected, but when I disable it and reconnect the phone all is well
I don't use Firewall ... so it is not the problem for me ...

I repeat myself... IT IS NOT A FIREWALL, USB, HARDWARE PROBLEM ! IT IS A BUG THAT SONYERICSSON DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO FIX !
Yet don't know why it happens but it can happen to anyone ! It has to do with they way Smartsuite interfaces with Microsoft Explorer (the shell, not the browser). After upgrading Windows XP with the latest patches on-line it stops working !!!
So far SonyEricsson did nothing to fix their bug but if you search on Internet you'll find thousand of people with the same problem and this is not a pure coincidence !

hey,
I have just spent half a day trying to figure out why "My P900" icon on the desktop says "NOT CONNECTED". After reading this thread, I was convinced that this is neither a firewall nor antivirus problem, so I reinstalled PC Suite and all the stuff. That did not help.
After all, IT WAS A FIREWALL PROBLEM. I have ZoneAlarm installed, and at some point it asked me whether I want some mRouterRuntime MFC Application to act as server. As in all cases, I did not know what that was and answered "No". Changing that setting to "Yes" had fixed all my problems.
Hope this helps to anyone in future.
thanks,
Karolis

I have this exact problem, had it for months actually. NOT CONNECTED. I have reinstalled PC suite time and again, from the CD ROM and the SE website, I have done resets on the phone, rebooted the computer tried switching USB ports, upped the speeds all that jazz and even wasted 28 minutes of my life with a SE "TECH" on the phone. No dice. Is there a way to roll back Windows XP to a time when it didn't fudge with the P900? Or do I have to uninstall windows and then reinstall it again. HELP!!

Second thought, no i dont want to do a system restore or even have to reinstall Windows. I have Macafee but I always have and it never affected the P900 sync up. Still need help though.
