@masseur
- mwarner, sorry I have never used fma

My God! You really should you know - it is an absolutely fantastic freeware utility. Obviously you will have heard of it before, being a long standing SE user and moderator of this site, but if you haven't checked it out recently I would most definately do so! The functionality is just phenominal these days, and getting better all the time. All you need is a non-smartphone SE phone with Bluetooth (T68, T610, T630, K700) and a Bluetooth dongle.

All those who haven't done so before, I would really recommend checking out the FMA website: http://fma.sourceforge.net/.

You should really upgrade your copy of FMA ... 0.1.0.33 came out in March and there has been quite a lot of User Interface improvements and bug fixes since then. The latest is 0.1.1.12a.

@masseur
If you already have a Bluetooth dongle (which I guess you will have, seeing as you seem to be able to download images from your phone to your PC easily) then it won't take more than 5 minutes to test it out ... you won't regret it I promise

One other question - what is the Bluetooth performance like compared to the T610? I notice that copying files to and from my phone (notably pictures off my phone and Themes onto my phone) the speed of the Bluetooth connection is quite a bit slower than many other phones (notably some Nokia phones and a V600, which people here at work have got). Is the K700 notably faster? I have just copied some files through my T610 and got 5.7KB/s from the phone to the PC and between 5.7 and 1KB/s to the phone.

Oh, and if any of you wish to try FMA, I have a couple of bits of advice. Firstly you will need to create a shortcut (using Widcomm software) to your phone's Serial Port and connect it to a PC COM port (e.g. COM4)

Next, load FMA and go to Tools/Options. Change the Connection type to Use COM port and select the COM port you just attached (e.g. COM4). Note that Native Bluetooth is Microsoft's Bluetooth implementation, which is both limited and not used by 3rd party suppliers. I would also recommend going to the Windows Tab and changing the Transparency of the Compose Message Window to 255.

All you need to do now is press the Connect button on FMA and everything should kick off! If it doesn't you need to make an initial connection - i.e. open My Bluetooth Places and perform a manual connect on the COM port. You should only need to do this once. FMA or the Bluetooth stack seems to remember it after that!

Wow, big post. Hope it was of use to someone
