The '162004/3' code is the operator branding code and is not changed by different firmware updates... it has nothing to do with what operator/network SIM card can be put into the the phone.

It was originally used by the update service to determine what upgrades could be placed on your phone, but as mentioned previously the SE online update also now looks at your phones IMEI number and uses that to determine which revision of the firmware should be put on the phone.

In fact the only way to change the 16xxxx/xx number is to go to an authorised SE service centre (or probably some dubious backstreet phone dealer) and get the phone reflashed by them (there was a hack on the 'net but it doesn't work any more if I'm not mistaken). However, given that the phones IMEI number is now checked even changing the operator branding code wont help when it comes to firmware updates.

The code that actually indicates what revision of firmware is installed on the device is the 5 digit number at the end of the Organiser entry, the latest being R5B02.

162004/3 indicates your phone is an Orange branded phone (a full list is avaliable here ) and as such the online update will only offer you the last authorised firmware version that was approved by Orange which is R3A06 (quite a few revisions behind).

As I said previously, be careful because the online update will downgrade a phone to the firmware version it thinks you should have - even if it is an older one than is already on your phone, you have to confirm that you want to proceed though so it isn't quite that dangerous (but could be easily done if you don't fully appreciate the firmware numbering system ).

Best bet with a branded phone is to take it into an SE service point and take advantage of the free firmware updates that your entitled to while the phone is under its 12 month warranty.

On a seperate note: Greeny, to change the picture of the phone go and edit your profile options (link at top of page) and change the Avatar/rank model setting
