do i still have to ask SMART to activate my account for GPRS? or setting-up my fone using the step-by-step procedure is enough to use the GPRS?

@dan_t, you need to ask smart to activate gprs. there is a form you need to fill up. it takes a day for activation. dial *888 to follow up.

So the only way to get GPRS activated is to go to a Smart Telecenter? No online version of the form we can just print and fax...or something?

@yiz19, call *888 and ask them to fax to you the GPRS activation form (this is actually a generic after-sales service form). just specify you want GPRS activated (put your request in the details section), then fax it back to smart. upon receipt, you wait 24 hours for the activation. If you want, you can download and print the form here then fax it back to 5114160.

@arnoldc, thanx for the help! I called *888 already and they said all I needed was to fax a letter of request. I hope to get GPRS up and running soon enough.

@arnoldc, there are rumors going around that GPRS won't be free soon. Pero like all other rumors, Globe (in my case) refuses to acknowledge about it.

What about smart??

Yes, it's free. Just fax them the letter of request and a copy of an ID and they'll have it working in 24 hrs. or less.
