It should be the r4a008, go for an upgrade if it isnt that. Thats the last version, i suggest to upgrade your fone 1 or 2 times in a year, i do the same and it do helps for fone and battery performance aswell. This message was posted from a T630

I'm not too sure you are right on that one mate.
The warranty is valid from date of purchase not date of manufactory.

if youre buying it from an authorized distributor...but the problem is, their not selling it anymore coz the model is already phased out...

you can buy it at some 3rd party telephone store, but since its not an authorized store, the unit doesnt have any warranty from & i doubt if they are selling b/new

i always had very good experiences in se services, in case newer or older fones aswell. they still must to have the latest upgrades for every models ( lets say r320etc ). but there could be difficulties by the replacement things.

Just call a service center, tell them your honest story and see what options you got. Then go from there.

as already stated, it can be a bunch of different problems causing the low sound from the microphone, quite common problem on T39 units. If you are lucky it's just a question of changing the flip, mic cable and maybe the cable connetor on the PCB, but in some cases it's also a bad audio circuit which has to be changed (which will result in a quite expensive service if the phone is not under warranty)

and for the firmware...

R4A008 is the latest/final release for most languagepacks while R4B is an operator/country specific release in US.
