It also has a much better camera, with more cool effects, such as being able to take pictures in 1280 res, and better RF reception IMO.

Its not really a question of which features differs on these 2 phones - they are 2 completely different types of devices.
P900 is a smart phone - a combined PDA/Phone with symbian OS - hence lots of possibilities for applications etc.
K700i is a "normal" phone with a normal phone OS - smaller and more handy than the P900, but still with some great features.
They are not directly comparable imho

Please tell me you don't see this as a feature? Try using the phone with an SE desk stand and it's all but impossible to put the phone on because of that stupid ***** cover!

Going back to the original topic of conversation, I don't know if when the phone is "unlocked" some of the operator locked features - like the mp3 ringtone feature that vodafone have locked, are unlocked as well, does anyone know? If not where can you get the original software flashed onto the phone?

sim locking and firmware branding are separate and unrelated thigs in the phone and so unlocking the phone will not change the nature of the firmware
its most unlikely that service centres will do anything to remove branding and I have not seen mention of anyone providing unbranded firmware online, which will be much more difficult these days as I understand it due to some new techniques being used to prevent such things happening

OK, so if I can't get rid of Orange's firmware, am I going to be disappointed with the phone. Am I going to wish that I had lashed out nearly £300 instead of getting it for free on a £30 contract?

the orange software is dissapointing. Enough to warrant buying a sim free handset? Not really. But it is definately a lesser phone due to the orange alterations,

Sorry, but I cant find a list of the changes that Orange have made to the K700 anywhere.
Can some one list the changes please?
Thank you.
