unless you can find a servicepoint which still has an old software version.... but that's very unlikely...
if you don't have any problems with you current software there is no need to update it...

@GOwin - well, truth is, i am basing my experience with my former r520m and its fw ver r3a. When i got this phone i had it upgraded to r4a immediately because my r520m kept on rebooting and the lcd gets screwed when on gprs. I based my conclusion on the premise that since the t39 and 520 have virtually the same fw then the performance is similar. Maybe it was too drastic a conclusion, judging from your experience.
