I think maybe that person on o2 is talking sh!t

I have used *111*# then followed the ladys instructions in many countries! Ireland, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia and Singapore. That method has been tried and tested by me many times.

Did you find out what your problem was?

The girl at o2 told me that my phone was open for roaming and the problem was that I was not dialling the phone number after the last * and before the hash! So she is saying I should dial *111* destination number, hash.

When you do go abroad. Do a network selection. Do a new selection even if you already have reception. then in a few hours o2 should send you a text message thru to tell you how to make calls in that country. My txt have always said *111*# This message was posted from a T610

Is this just a pay&go thing? Im on contract and I went to new york earlier this year and when I switched my phone on I locked onto one of the american networks and was able to use my phone as normal, just put the +44 instead of a 0 infront of the number when I wanted to call/txt home. There was nothing about using any codes or anything like that, I didnt even have to ring up to get my roaming activated!

Yes it's pay as you go. Contract is no problem like you said. But I did actually get onto a network.

@SCORPIONKING1982

Only in some countries does the "direct dialing" work on PAYG. Most countries still you must go through the code system.
