Simlock is almost non-existant here in Australia.
No networks do simlocking due to some technicality law passed a few years ago.

The only simlocked handsets are various prepaid phones, mainly motorola (ewww..) phones.

Really? how does it explain all so many aussie tourists with their phone unable to accept VFNZ sim card cos it's locked to an aussie network. no mean to sound offensive.

Doh!

This is exciting news as I've noticed that the K700 has been popping up in a few stores around town. I will now have to check the z1010 out. It's a toss up between the K700 and the Z1010, although I dont really like clamshells.

I just hope it doesn't have the tasteless "3" branding that some of the European Z1010's have. Yuk.

Yeah I remembered only phones bundled with Pre-Paid sim cards are sim locked. The rest are sim free. Anyway my bro in Melbourne told me that the Z1010 is gonna be available in stores starting today. They only have the Grey version, Red version only available by the end of the year. And its retailing for AUD 795.

A little late but...

Aussie Aussie Aussie....

Currently you can buy the Z1010 on Pre-Pay (PAYG) here in Australia for $195 !

Locked to the 3 Network, to unlock it, you spend $150 on credit, and you are unlocked and free.

Also deserves mention are some of the deals.

$30 Credit - 150 Free SMS's
$50 Credit - 150 Free SMS's - $100 worth of Calls
$100 Credit - 150 Free SMS's - $200 worth of calls

Its great.

@The_Nashy

Are you trying to resurrect as many old threads as possible?

Seriously though, how are you finding the Z1010?
