Yes, I tend to agree fully. Although you can use the up/down volume keys for "alternate word" when using T9 – atleast on R2A f/w.
After using my T68m for over 2yrs, my K700 is taking some getting used to. What really peeves me (apart from the "alternate word" stuff) is the fact that the "quick key" function doesn't always work, ie; you select something in the list based on it's numbered position by pressing a number key.
It only works on certain screens, but not others (like the wap popup screen, grrr). Oh, and while I'm having a whinge, I'd just like to add that there's no wap resume function (doh!).

So the question is what do we do? I mean SE have no motivation to change it, and even though this firmware update service will likely by circumvented in no time, that's not to say there's any chance of reverse engineering it. So we're stuck.
I'll call SE and see what they say. Problem is K700 isn't even officially released yet here (USA).

The space has been on the # key since at least the T200 so i doubt you'll have it changed now

Just took a look at my T68i, the 7 key is being odd, so I guess I'll have to open her up and clean it out
I'll glue back in the IR lens while I'm there

almost every phone I have used in the past few years has had the space key on the 0 or #. I can't see a huge difference in where you put it. If you are really worried about having a poor grip on the phone why don't you use the joystick to enter a space. Of course the joystick is no closer to the 5 than the #, but its in the middle of the phone at least. I know I use the joystick for spaces because I also use it to select between words using T9.
Just seems simple to me to use the joystick.
