Ignore the comment about MP3's having to be under 16khz - that only applies to WAV files. And there's no point using WAV files as they are huge compared to the same file saved as an MP3.
I just use iTunes to create the MP3 file. That works fine for me...

the 16kbps limit is ONLY for wav files but you really never need to use wav files on a K700 - wav files are to big - everyone just forget about wav files. Unless youre on a Vodaphone where mp3 for ringtones has been disabled - then wav may be used instead ?
For ringtones - use 30sec long mp3 files (any bitrate you want) but 64-96kbps is just fine for ringtone
For playback of music - use AAC in an mp4 container. - better sound and smaller filesize than mp3 - 128kbps AAC/mp4 sound good on K700. Even 96kbps will do if you want to save space.
Use dbpoweramp (freeware) to convert any musicfile to mp3 or AAC/mp4 or wav and back - by simply rightclicking any musicfile and select convert to - easiest thing in the world.
For mac (or windows) users using Itune - simply rename the extension of your Itune files to .mp4 and they will play on K700.

Unfortunately I'm with Vodafone - when I spoke to them today they admitted they have disabled some features on the phone (namely MP3 ringtones and file transfer).
Worked round file transfer as it is built into mac os and it works with K700 fine.
Any work arounds to get to use my own music as a ringtone on Voda?????

Acoustica MP3 to Wave Converter Plus is an excellent program - the initial version is only a trial with 6 conversions available, but the serial number for the full version is easilly found on the net.
