I wasn't really saying it would be launched ONLY due to the P910, just that I am sure it is relatively large determining factor in their availability...
The poster above (i am useless with names), suggests a Q4 release I recall, well that will possibly the date for actual widespread availability of the P910 in the UK if the P900 is anything to go by - remember the threads on here about e2save and whatever they were called for lack of stock and unknown delivery dates, which continued over the festive season... short initial supply of the P900 meant that it was selectively available if you shopped around - CPW and Orange versions seemed about the best bet to start with, I got mine in November finally, after much shopping around though... so perhaps the launch of 1Gb duos and the P910 won't be that far off after all...

SE has to tailor all its devices to the storage media that is available, not the other way around. Pro Duos are not engineered to work on specific devices nor marketed for any specific devices. The device manufacture must tailor their product to meet the storage media's specifications and compliance guidelines.. Hence the storage media will continue to be marketed as it always has been. I don't remember seeing any manufacturer really marketing their memory sticks with a specific device. Nor do I remember seeing memory stick availability depleting because of a specific device. I'd have to say cameras with Duo and Pro DUO compatibility are still more popular then the Pxxx series at this point. At least that's what I have seen Sony really promote their product use for. SE on the other hand is an entirely different division that has nothing to do with memory stick production or availability.
Got my P900 in October '03 didn't think it was hard to find and Duos were relatively cheap and abundant for me at the time for me (outside of the UK).
