if someone developed a vnc server that was capable of compressing and compacting the desktop image so it would fit on a cellular phone screen, the image would be impossible to read, unless it was full-size and 'wrapped' like when you over-stretch a monitor's resolution and you can move (like in *nix x-windows) the image by moving the mouse to the edges of the screen.. in which case you would be sending the whole of the image (1024x768 and above, mine for example is 1920x1440, AND 1280x1024) even with the desktop wallpaper removed by vnc, that is an effective image size of 3200x2464, well over 20 times what the t610 can display...... and can they not only display a certain image format (why the jpegs on the phone have such distinct size differences from on the pc?) would that format be capable of accepting a streaming image from your computer? and wouldn't it require a data cable for that since the size is so big (especially if you want quality and clarity to read text) unless you wanted to watch videos (which is rediculous since bluetooth is your desired transfer proto and in no way capable of data rates that high)..
i only post because i (as vlammetje) am interested in what you intended to do... you can control your pc app's using floats mobile agent via bluetooth, but not view the pcs display....

has not allowed access to any of the phones connectivity through java so far in its midrange phones. So even if bluetooth was fast enough or reliable enough, and you could compress the screen well, you still couldn't write an app to view it with java. And mophun wouldn't be any help since you would have to liscense the technology.

yes i pretty much gave up on the idea after the 2nd post here bout the t610. i wanted this in the first place so i could watch videos on t610, see images on slideshows and with a tv tuner i could actuallly watch tv on it! (even if only 10m away (my house isnt 2 big)). i wouldnt want to run apps on comp and use them on t610! that would be just about impossible. thats y i mentioned the question of whether it could b done on s700 because of its large display but that was just out of curiosity. anywayz thnx 4 the input all

i see no reason why you could not (using a s700 of course) encode videos for playback, i had even hoped it would allow connecting to a streaming server.. its resoiution is supposed to be 320x240 (on its side) which makes for a clean shrink of most of the tv episodes from dvd rips i do stick at 448x336 tops... i do not think i read anything about the streaming capability but it has a memory stick slot, so you could encode save to memory stick and watch on mobile anywhere..
