What's to stop it from sliding in from the side!
SE surely wouldn't fall into the Nokia trap of taking your phone apart to insert an MMC!
My 41Mb on my K700i is enough tho. Why do SE advertise only 32MB on the phone?

As an alternative they could also develop removable storage that attaches at the bottom of the phone. Just like a thumb drive on a PC. Then again coming up with an updated phone with the Memory stick slot may be cheaper R&D wise.

I can't see how a Memory Stick Duo would fit in that area where the metal place is. A MS Duo is 32mm by 20mm, yet that place is roughly 18mm by 20mm (visible area).

because it's a market strategy. SE is about to launch S700. you must make differences between both phones so one of the phones doesn't kill the other's release.

K700 is a mid entry level handset with a big enough memory not to need an expansion slot. There's no room for one anyway.

When are they going to get it into their thick skulls that providing 41mb of memory and not being able to use it for storing WHATEVER the user wants to use it for is completely pointless. a LOT of people would use it to store a hell of a lot more than 100 texts, surely the people that makes these bluddy phones for a living can work this out? people have been calling for it for years and its gone completely ignored. The excuse in the past was the memory wasnt there, well it bluddy well is now, but you cant actually use it can you. its rediculous!
and while im on the subject, theres a problem with the k700 in that it gives NO warning that you are getting low on text memory, you find out when you recieve a text and get a message that the memory is full and you must delete some texts to be able to view or save it.

Ewok that all of the free (sort of) "shared memory" in the phone, available to the end user, should be possible to use for whatever purpose the end user wishes.
I can't really see any good reason why not.

Ewok's right, why cnt SE just separate fone and user accessible memory.;-) They should stop using the word "shared" when it comes to the fone's memory.
