Here, I have to defend and the phone.. First I have to say that I am a SE fanatic but I will try to say what I think from a non biased point of view.
The K700 is a fantastic phone, or at least, it will be as soon as it works correctly. I am sure that everybody has heard of faulty software in new models, just look at the T610... Having said that I must also say that I think it's wrong of SE, or of any manufacturer, to release faulty phones due to the loss of profit it would mean not to get the phone out in time. When you buy a phone you will want it to work! I strongly belive that future software updates will solve most of the problems that are being expirenced today...

This forum appears to have a lot of members who just exist to complain ! There is little wrong with k700i,the first T610s were a lot worse,the menu was slow & gif animation support was a joke,yet this model became a best seller ! The K700i is a quantum leap above the T610/T630/Z600 & operates without a smartphone OS! For most people this handset is a good buy !!! This message was posted from a K700i

I dont think that 100% is quite true as there are other threads stating that people are happy with the life of their batteries now they have been charged up a few times. The battery in my 1 1/2 week old K700i has gone from lasting 3 hours to nearly 3 days. I followed regular charging patterns allowing the phone to nearly discharge completly before recharging. Also put it on the initial charge for 6 hours. Now I charge it up whenever it reaches 1/4 full so I never get caught out with a nearly flat battery. Also carry a car charger with me all the time (in my cars storage compartment)

I've just finished a 7 1/2 hour shift at work where the GPRS was in use all this time (quiet day) and I've still got 3/4 full battery power.

Again I have to disagree. While I havent played with a Nokia 7610 (Dont think so, they all look alike to me these days) I have however had reports from friends who have the phone and are not happy with it at all.

Also, i wouldnt go so far as to call the K700 a piece of sh1t either. Its a good entry level phone that has plenty of features packed into it. At the end of the day it is, afterall, a revamped T series handset.

I agree with the comments about the T series phones. They did have some faults when first released which is why I waited a while before buying one as by then most faults had been sorted. These were sorted within a few software upgrades so the same should be for the k700.

I think that some people had their expectations set a little too high about the k700 and when it was released were somewhat a little disappointed and quick to judge thus stating all bad comments and not comparing with the positive issues the phone has.

My advice would be to wait a little longer, about 2-4 months which by this time most of the flaws will/should have been sorted and we can all go about are happy lives

If we really are to talk numbers

When you state that more than half of the k700 users have problems with their new K700 - you forget to mention that 80-90% of those are caused by operator brandings screwing up the firmware - which really cannot be blamed S//E or the K700. Things like missing mp3 ringtone or missing shortcut options or missing the more option or faulty contacts or strange restarting.........etc. etc.

Simply stay away from the operatorbranded models and your phoning life will be much easier.

I have never had a single problem on my unbranded K700 and besides a few minor issues fixable in firmware im sure most unbranded models are more or less like mine. Naturally - like with all new models - there are some issues - im not saying there arent - only that I havent experienced any of them and the picture you get when reading Esato is wrong. All the operatorissues makes it look much worse than it actually is.

Also your 100% dissapointment in batterylife is not true - I am not at all dissapointed in the battery life of my K700 - therefore it cannot be 100%

Is there any hope of getting unbranded handsets from operators if you kick up a stink (being a long standing, loyal customer and all that) or is it a case of paying more for them, sim free etc?

Also - P800 battery is pretty crap (big screen!), I charge it every day, so I'm sure K700 can't be any worse!

Well yes there are issues with the K700i, but then from what i hear these are fixed with a f/w update. Having seen a colleauges nokia 7600 today and the fiasco that was transfering videos over bluetooth, then i for one am glad i chose the K700i. Maybe i'l be even happier after tomorrow (gettin the f/w update )

let us not forget that this website is for sony ericsson fans. but of course, we can always mention or talk about the flaws of SE phones. Nothing is perfect, but close to perfection, it is possible.

if an individual came from a different phone manufacturer, let us say a nokia. they will find it somehow uneasy using SE phones. because they are not used to it and they don't know how to maximize the use of SE phones.

SE K700i is a great phone. not unless you are using it properly. if you had been a sony ericsson user, you will find this phone easy to handle. with one click, presto!

i know it is not ethical to compare a nokia to an SE, but hey, how can we know which one is near to perfection without comparing right? but be sure to compare a phone with its right competitor. you cannot compare a ferrari to a mini cooper. both are great cars, but, different category.

@darknezz - You're very much welcome dude By the way, might as well 'sell' yout SE T610 mate, so that you'll be only doling out some minimal cash when buying that Nokia 7610 But if you literally mean to 'give it away', then why not host a game here at esato having that T610 as the grand prize . . .
