> Comparison internal memory use P900
Bookmark topic
I had tried to use TaskMan from Symbianware, and here wht it lists:
Taskman-56K
Eiksrvbackdrop-260K
Applications-100K
Phone-856K
Advanced Call Manager-96K
SBDaemon-60K
Beamer-68K
SMan-100K
Free Memory=6.66MB
And this is wht i get from SMan
Flipkeypad-48K
Applications-100K
Eiksrvbackdrop-524K
Advanced Call Manager-96K
SBDaemon-60K
Beamer-68K
SMan-100K
Appicker-52K
TaskMan-56K
Free Mem=6820KB
So we have phone tht is 'invisible' in SMan, Appicker n Flipkeypad r invisible in TaskMan, and we have about 500K difference when it comes to used memory as listed by the two Apps... What does it mean???

Operating RAM has nothing to do with storage memory (C or D).
When you're reading ram usage in an app like Sman or TaskMan, you are actually making that app active. I would assume this affects ram usage at that particular moment.
Also, keep in mind how an operating system like Symbian needs its own substantial resources. I think the 0S itself takes almost half of the available 16MB, leaving the reamaining for apps and stuff. Lucky P910 owners should rejoice for having twice the RAM.

I also thought it was this easy, but it ain't. When my C: drive was full, the available memory, after switching the phone off and on, was around 1.6 mb. After deleting all the sms'es taking up the space, i now am back to 5-6 mb available memory. I do believe this only happens when the c: has very little space left, though. At the time, i had about 300 kb available, due to severe fragmentation from close to 1000 sms'es. I know that Opera requires about 2 mb available for its cache, and several other programs also use the default internet temp folder for its temporary files, and perhaps they end up using the physical memory instead of the virtual.

Let me do this just one more time, without sounding like an elitist.
RAM: The P900 has 16MB's of RAM. Apps are loaded and run from this space, very much like a computer. SMan, TaskMan and other task managers report THIS memory.
C: Drive: The P900 also has another 16MB's of internal storage memory. This is where your messages, basic apps and other things are stored. For some reason, known only to the wise sages at SE, a user cannot assign external storage (MS Duo card) as a destination for messages or beamed/Bluetoothed items. As much as I try, I can only keep around 9MB's free on this internal storage. I need all the C: space I can get so I can send as much through BT withouht any hassles.
D: Drive: This is your memory stick. With careful planing, you can have your videos and pictures all saved on this media, saving you lots of time moving them later.
The File Manager app is a great way to gain more info on the latter two storage media types.
I hope everything is clear now.

You're not mistaken, ph03n!x. It's just that many people keep confusing the two.

Well, since i introduced the C:/ drive issue, i feel i have to defend my original comment, which is that there is a relation between the two, but it is dependant on applications, such as opera, and on the amount of free space you have left on your C:/drive. If you have several megabytes free, you will not experience my problem.
