I have noticed that SE phones react to signal variations much faster than Nokia phones. I have a signal booster put at my place by the mobile operator and have seen that SE phone signal bars drop immediately when I switch OFF the booster. However, the signal bars in a Nokia phone kept in a identical loctaion take much longer to drop. The same happens when I switch the booster ON. It shows that Nokia phones have some kind of a electronic "damping" built into their circuits.

It is not a fault. It is caused by the quick refresh rate of the signal bar. This in itself is just am indication of the real world as in reality the signal strength is continuosly changing. ie when a bus goes past this will affect the signal. This is only apparent in areas where there is already a weak signal. Would electronic interferance also have effect? Say from power lines.

I've just upgraded to a Sony Z600 and found the same thing with the signal going all over the place. This is in an area where my previous Nokias (3100 and 7210) and my girlfriend's Samsungs (S300 and E600) signal strength remains not only stable, but higher than the Z600.
I've only made a few calls on it, and the connection is never that great.
