how about comparing coverage maps? They should be available on all service provider websites. I believe Voda fair the best, followed by O2 and then Orange and T-mobile. However, i don't think there should be any issues if you're living in major-medium density populations areas.

actually i think tmobile hav better reception the o2, my aunty has a o2 fone (a motoroal v500 i think) and in shopping centres like brent cross and in selfriges she has no reception wen im on tmobile and i hav v good reception there.

well p900 lover... i'm glad you can use your phone in shopping centres in Brent Cross and Selfridges, but i think people are looking for slightly more precise comparisons. I personally have had no trouble using my O2 account in shopping centres and department stores across London. I have problem with coverage, like with every other service provider, in clubs and venues in central london.

i think i remember reading about it in a mobilephone magazine back before they started up. just like tesco mobile also uses the o2 network.

done a google search for a news article.
I have since found out that bt-mobile use o2 for their business customers and t-mobile network for their home customers and vodaphone network for their combined home and mobile phone service.
for you i think it will be the t-mobile network reception you should ask folk about.

ive had orange and o2 phones and my o2 phone has always had excellent coverage, comparied to the orange phone but it does also depend on the phone as some can pick up signal easier, my o2 phone is a p800 and the o2 x1 but my orange has been ericsson t20,sony j70, and nokia 3510i. I did briefly have a se t300 on vodaphone for a week or two and the coverage is good.
From my experience the ranking or signal quality around the uk would be:
o2
vodaphone
orange

dont worry, bt-mobile have a virtual network with one of the big four networks who all have the strong positions. they will always have good enough reception- if they didnt they would have many customers!
Since selling Cellnet to help pay off their debt crisis, BT have vacillated about in the mobile phone business. They currently offer mobile phones as a virtual network, with two different offerings: a virtual network on O2 for residential customers, and a virtual network on T-mobile for business customers.
Now they seem to be snuggling up with their own adversary, Vodafone. There were rumours that they plan to move their virtual mobile networks to Vodafone, but BT have now announced Project Bluephone.

they used to be on the o2 network but are now transfering all there customers accross to the vodaphone network. this is the final word on bt-mobile virtual network. It has been taken from bt's own website (place u should have looked at first!)
