I am new to this unlocking/branding scene, but..
I have unbranded a Z600 using terminator dongle, but i didn´t unlock it.
*forgot to, to be honest* when my friend came back with the phone i unlocked it as well. That would suggest that unlocking and unbranding can indeed be done separately? Or am i skating on thin ice here?

no you are correct, unbranding a phone is connected with the phones firmware, specifically a GDFS. to unlocking a phone corresponds to the "one time programmable" imei. they are completely un related, you can unbrand without unlocking and the other way around.

I see.. What´s interesting as well is that already when updating the firmware with non-branded R5B, some Vodafone crap was gone, and that was BEFORE flashing the GDFS.. I guess there is traces of "Big red" in both the .sbn and .gdf-file..

I don't think that someone will go to Budapest to buy unlocked phone(with Vodacrap®)(voda k700i unlocked exist?) and then sell it here when he can buy it unlocked&unbranded in Belgrade for same price...

yeh the firmware flash would loose the operater rubish, the GDFS is kind of a store for games and other customizable things.

however none of this matters when it comes to the k700i as the phone cannot be booted to do any of this stuff.

@darko
it was just an example i used of what could be done. what network is the k700 on now? still vodafone?

K700 is now on Serbian network, Mobtel(220-01) and k7 works without problems. As i said above, there is no Vodafone network in Serbia.
