How many colours did you say? You should check your eyes. Here is what i found on the nokia site about 9290.
Integrated Design
Consistent menus and color screen icons create a familiar PC-like environment.
High-resolution, color TFT active matrix screen displays up to 4096 colors.
Full QWERTY keyboard lets you input information using methods you already know.
Application keys give you easy access to the features you use most.

isn't the 9290 you mentioned, the 9300?
okay my mistake, the 9290 is an american model and looks like an older communicator model. But the 9300, now that is an interesting model.

7610 advantages over k700i:
Symbian
Slightly better camera (compare the photos with k700 1mp images - not much difference, except in low light)
MMC Slot
k700i advantages over 7610:
Radio
STEREO sound
Size and weight
You donīt need any software besides your dongleīs drivers to conect via bluetooth
So, you canīt say clearly wich is better, different people will give mor value to different things, neither one of the two is perfect

What vs? Look at the price, of course 7610 is better. You get what you pay.

But even with that pc suite, that is a pain in the ass to operate with bluetooth (at least thatīs what i found when trying to conect my brotherīs 3650 with the bluetooth dongle), can you send things to the phone from a normal XP folder window??? DOntīthink so

Just came from nokia 7610, nice camera, respectable battery life. used it for 3 weeks, comments: OS very slow, specially when you dont restart your cell. as usual, there's no complete phone from nokia, always lacks something. This time, no infra red support. and one more thing, the sound sucks!
I still have my t68 with me, it's a great phone. Just used a p8 for 6 months, 6600 for 2 months, 6100 still in use, and then k700i. my only complain is the battery life, less than a day use.
I just swap it even if k700 is cheaper than the 7610. Just got tired of being fooled by nokia.
