If you don't want/need the features that the K700i has over the k500i then yes it would be better value for money!

no bluetooth is no big thing. don't use it my self and though its nice to have i can't see the need for it unless you like looking a fool with one of those ear pieces. i'll consider using one when they make them the nearer the size of normal headfones
or sony make stereo headsets with bluetooth that you can use with a phone as well as your walkman. my 2c.

@peeta u r rite but a bluetooth headset cant be very small bcoz of all the hardware it needs. May be in the future they ll make it small.

But u ll need bluetooth 4 one thin coz u cant always exchange everythin using IR even if 2 fones have IR i.e. a nokia n SE ir incompatible and generally 2 different brand fones IR r not compatible but tats not the case with bluetooth. Besides havin a bletooth fone ll be fun in a very busy place or a place wid more people or 4 exchangin messages in classroom easily during classes, etc.

Off topic I know, but I manage to transfer pictures and things between nokias and my K700 over infra red without any compatibility issues at all. I do agree that bluetooth is the better solution though.

Although the k700 is a bit expensive . The fact that it has bluetooth makes it much better than the k500. There is no point in having a phone that plays mp3s and videos he you cant link it up to your pc easily and transfer this stuff. Data cables are no use when you change phones. Moreover the low memory makes the 'cool' features useless. I would recommend that your friend go for the T610 if it is available at the same price as the k500 . I think K500i is better in features when compared to the T610 or the T630 ...the MP3 is to be used for small MP3 ringtones

the k700i is like a car with all accessories and the k500 is the base model.
