If u badly wanna phone, go out n buy the P910- IMO thtz the best gadget as of now if u have a P800 or anythingelse. If u have a P900, wait! ur phone aint "utdated" yet, and it will rock for quite while

@ ph03n!x

Personally I wouldn't buy a P910 if I had a P800 either, I don't think that the P910 offers enough new features to make it worthwhile upgrading from either a P900 or a P800. I shall await the P1000.
Of course if one has neither a P800 or a P900 then the situation is quite different; one should buy the P910 if one needs a smartphone and cannot wait for the P1000, or one doesn't need the extra features the P1000 will probably have.

how much 'extra' would those features be for the non-business user anyway?

But msa seems to have convinced himself to wait anyway so why do we even bother?

I'd be interested to hear what this mythical P1000 is expected to have that will make it so much more different from the P900 or P910?

wifi is one possible new feature but I am struggling to think of anything more I would want in a smart phone.

btw, I'm talking about realistic things they might include in the next 6 months, not the future-tech stuff we were talking about in another thread the other day

just curious what everyone is waiting for

@masseur

That is a very good point old boy. Myself, I am hoping that the P1000 will include Wi-Fi and perhaps even be 3G, but I doubt the latter. There is also the isue of an improved camera, hopefully this issue will be addressed.
As you say, there are only so many features that will be included, but I just didn't feel it worth my while to upgrade from a P900 to a P910, which would offer me very little extra. My P900 serves me very well and I shall keep it until something comes along, which can offer me features that are a decided improvement upon my P900's, not just some minor upgrades.

I think SE will bring out a range of phones to meet various needs. So waiting for P1000 is really about waiting for a number of potential smartphones. My hypothesis is that SE may produce the following variants in the next 12 months across a range of technologies and applications:

1. 3G Smartphone with GPS, like the Moto A1000, probably not as compact as the P910. Probably two variants, one with a camera and one without
2. GSM+GPRS, EDGE & WiFi but no GPS, probably based on the P910 chasis and aimed at the US market
3. A communicator style variant without a camera for business people (to compete with the Nokia Series 90). This device will probably have a large screen (1/2 VGA) and some kind of keyboard

there needs to be a few things pointed out

@scotsboyuk, waiting can be a good thing, I'm sure that there has been a time in your life where you went, ahh i wish I held out a bit longer. Plus not everyone has the money to just buy everything they want.

I think that the P900 and P910 are just upgrades to the P800.
To wait for a P1000 is the best thing to do. IMO it's the smart thing to do.
I dont feel it'll be more than 2nd Quarter of next year when it'll be released.
I can understand the pressure you feel when trying to discuss it.
It's true that I live behind the philosophy, if you like it, take it, but not everyone can do that.
I say hold out unless you've got the cash to spend.

I did forget 3G, that would be nice with the amount of data I do (much more than voice actually), however most companies seem to have a strange idea of 3G and seem to want to make a huge phone with dual cameras for video conferencing etc. I would just like the GPRS added to with 3G data speeds

@amnesia, I just cannot understand people who want to wait for something when they have no idea what it will be. As I tried to suggest earlier, some people didn't buy the P900 because they were waiting for the P1000 and then the P910 was announced and it wasn't what they expected.

before someone can wait for something they really need to know what it is the are waiting for

yeah that's true, it's a good point.

To be honest, If it was me and I had a p800 I'd go with a P910 already if I was saving up.

In my case, I simply love mobiles, and I'd buy P8 p9 and p910 straight away.
