> K700i a poor phone?

I had been and always been a Nokia user. So, when I decided to get a K700i I was in a state of "leap of faith" when I got one.
Clearly, when I started using my SE-K700i, my basis of comparison was always Nokia. I had to adjust to the location of the space character from "0" to "#". And a lot of adjusting to other intricacies as well. Somehow, I said I will be able to manage the change.
Next thing I encountered is its short battery life. I used to recharge using my Nokias every 5 days or 4 days if I have been using it quite heavily.
With my K700i it takes me 2 days with minimal use before recharging. When I make more calls, browse the internet and use bluetooth, I would be lucky enough to have for only a day.
Again, I, rationalized, since I had the phone for less than a month, I try all the things featured on the phone that's why I am using up much of the juice.
Then a week later, an officemate got a K700i, too and noticed differences in the icons, when connecting to the internet, the operator logo is bigger..... etc. This is the time I went to this Forum to check out the firmware versions of the phone. I found out that I had an R2E and my officemate has an R2L. Then, I was contemplating I need to have that firmware upgrade--but I never did because the only available SESS is so much out my way and time.
But just last week Sony Ericsson, in its web site announced an on-line firmware update and did it (after borrowing a friend's DSS-25). And I had done it without any hitches. I was happy, because somehow Sony Ericsson was able to address this in this manner.
It is an adventure of coming to learn a new brand of phone. I love my phone right now, and am happy with it despite a previous Nokia user. The quirks are there so as no Nokia 6600, Nokia 7650 or even a Nokia 7610. Despite the quirks, you need to adjust your ways and how to use your phone as well. Change is a given.
Overstating or understating specifications I guess, is another matter. Maybe the original talktime and standby time ratings by SE must be rectified, however.
I am just hoping that SE would be more responsive to the customer's suggestions and comments. I also appreciate SE's efforts by implementing an on-line firmware update which goes to show their sincere effort as well.

rushed this one that's why there's so many flaws (physical and sw wise) but comparing it to the last nokia phone that I used (3650) the logo at the back also fell off
and it also had hanging and :bt: problems w/c I can say is preety much evident in every phone.
I guess this is the price we pay for too much competition for market share
the manufacturers trying desperately to outdo each other..The online update to r2l solved the battery problems I had now it last 3 days.
I'm very certain the phonebook issues would be fixed by
in their future fw upgrade so I'll patiently wait for it..

Keep in mind though, that many of the flaws I mentioned in my above list has been there since the early T68/T300 phones. It just shows that Sony Ericsson doesn't always pay attention to the details that makes software brilliant.

It had it's flaws when it hit the market,but with the new r2l firmware,i can't fault it.my days of blokia are now a distant memory.

The K700 is a very good entry level phone. Yes it does have its faults but so does any phone. Most of the problems are eventually soted out in later software upgrades anyway. I think the K700 is a good replacement to the T610/T630 series.
