Also another option would be to try to use another shutdown image instead of the default
just to try to isolate the problem.

Doesn't the recover option undo the update? Other than the shutdown problem, the new firmware is working fine.
I didn't know you can change the shutdown video on the K700i, I've (abeit quickly) searched the forums and found that you can do the startup, but apparently not the shutdown. Otherwise that's a great idea.

I FIXED IT!
The solution is sooo obvious when I think about it. Remembered how a master reset was needed after a Px00 firmware update, which the K700i doesn't do, so that's exactly what I did.
