I think AV vegas or whatever is right.

Well, thanks for the help so far... I called the guy and he said he'd ask his friend at work the next day (the guy who gave him the phone to sell) and he said the code was 12345. But it wasn't. He's offering me a full refund, so I think I'll take that, and keep bidding on ebay for a good p800. Here's me hoping i will find one....

Oh and the possiblility that it was stolen also came up, It's possible, but i doubt it. The guy seems pretty honest (and Im not one to trust most), so i don't think it was stolen, maybe it was a phone that was returned under warranty, and was "sim-locked" or locked to that one sim card, not just the network, but that one.

Well, wish me luck on finding a good enough p800 for a good enough price....

By default, the code is likely to be either 0000 or 1234 so try these first.

Excuse me mr but i am confident it is a security lock which you can activate which asks for a code on boot up when SIM is changed. If it was stolen it would not have a code on the screen just wont connect to a network. Try not to advise people on subjects you dont know anything about. The poor guy who created this topic might be shitting himself thinking he / she has been ripped of when this is not the case.

Err.. I think you need to read that post again.

All he is saying is that if you bought a phone of ebay that had the startup PIN or swapsim PIN enabled, where the seller doesn't know it, AND there's no charger, it would be fair to say its got a good chance of being a stolen handset.

He didn't say anything about it being barred.. but without those codes you won't get to the stage where you can check if it is or not...

Also - I had heard that P800 screens were more in the £80 price range...

Yes about the screens, they are really expensive new, but there are some going for 45 pounds on ebay, refurbished (they came off old p800s....) Also, I was told by Carphonewarehouse (a phone store in UK) that I can get the phone unlocked from that for 30 pounds, and I thought that if I just got a refund I could buy one for less than 30 pounds more, with a working (fully) screen and all the extras included. I'm not sure whether it was stolen or not, but the guy seemed pretty honest about everything, like he didn't know of te lock etc... Well, I tried all the standard ones etc and they didn't work, so I've sent it back to him, and it should be refunded by friday.... Wish me luck. Others have left the guy good feedback saying that he has refunded them in full, so I'm quite confident i'll get the money back... But now this just leaves me with my good ol' t68i.... And wanting a p800 more and more by the second. Aw well, I'm sure I'll get one soon... (if he refunds me...)..

Does anyone know how to retract payments on paypal? (just in case....)

Thanks for your help all...
