I guess it will reduce their costs as the service centres charge SE for doing upgrades and people will think twice about sending their phone away for 2 weeks if they don't really need that upgrade
and as time goes by more and more phones will be online upgradeable so the need will be less anyway
its still not clear to me what other services are no longer being provided by the service centres. Se customer service in UK told me to call back next week when they hope to have more info, even though this service actually ceases tomorrow!

The service point here (well.... service...
) does hardware repairs, replacement units, fw upgrades and that's about it. They are linked to a store for spare housings, cases, styluses and such as well though... I doubt they get much revenue through that but it would be unlucky bif the facility would cease to exist

They're supposed to be a servicepoint not an upgrade facility!
Please post any result of your queries about this Im sure everyone wold like to get the facts about this one.. What bout those in the t6xx and t2xx series?
