Signal strength will also effect the battery life. The lower the bars ~ the more power that's drained.

do you guys find if you leave certain apps running, well espically on my P800, running the camera software in the background,
can drain the entire battery in only a few hours ?

Does anyone use the p910i as a mp3 player? How long will the battery last if i listen to mp3, let's say an hour continuously.

leaving the cam, BT or unnecessary apps on, or being unnecessarily connected to GPRS will drain your battery much faster. playing music and video are very big power suckers.
that doesn't mean you shouldn't use them. just shut them down after you're done. much like turning the lights off in a room when you leave.
you can either use tracker, sman or taskman for shutting down apps.

Ok, what I've learned so far throughout my P800 days, and the few days with my P910... these things drain battery the worst... in order:
1)Backlight (If you can shut off your backlight during the day, do it... this saves a whole lot of power. The backlight eats up more juice than calling does)
2)Calls (or CSD Data/Fax)
3)GPRS
4)Bluetooth
5)Camera
6)3D games
7)MP3s

everything else
Understand that the P800/900/910 really can hit those standby times... well, on STANDBY. On screensaver mode, with no Bluetooth or GPRS... the phone eats up very little power. It does this by shutting down the screen all together, which in the P-series' case is the largest power draining feature of the phone.
The more you play with the phone, the faster it will drain power.
As a PDA, the P-series gives you the best battery life of them all... the closet ones being Palm, at full run time can hit 5-6 hours. PPCs can hit 4. P-series phones can hit 7-8 hours. This is at FULL PDA use.
What people fail to see is that the P-series IS a PDA. So it does drain that much power. I'll admit, I do miss Ericsson/SonyEricsson's 4 day standby times with their regular phones...but I can't go back to just a regular phone anymore...not since my P800.
Mind you, a regular Nokia phone can barely exceed the standby time of the P910.

Hmmm .. . almost similar with that of the SE K700/i model - which has a very poor battery life . . .

Maybe I'm missing something but I don't seem to have this brightness adjustment bar that some of you have in your phones.
I guess that this must be a difference between the P900 and the P910.
Would anyone know of any software that could control the display brightness on the P900?.
I'm sure this would save a LOT of power.
I've already googled and AllTheWebbed to the max with no joy. If anyone can help I would be most grateful.

reduced my brightness to 75% and extended my battery life by about 30% (rough guess)
