I had the exact same problem. A reset seems to have fixed it, although I also reinstalled the drivers at the same time. Turning the phone on and off may have worked too.

Best way to transfer contacts between the two is send the contacts folder - "All" - via BT or IR from one to the other.
Regarding the PC Suites, I think the Px00 PC Suite's are backwards compatible - you should be able to use the latest version (3.0.0?) with both devices - I know I can with my 900 and 910i. With the CDs, the only thing that you actually install on the PC is the PC Suite - the rest of the stuff is either drivers or content/applications that you can install straight to the phone.
There is a difference in the SyncStations, but general consensus is that it is merely cosmetic. Either way, I would just use the SyncStation supplied with the 910i to be on the safe side.

Sorry just reread this, should say I can't get my pc to recognise my sync station. Phone connection link won't connect to anything (sync station or BT) and my 910 says phone not connected. But my BT dongle software sees my phone and can transfer data to it.
