I never knew that you can use a 'data cable' with your SE K700/i mate The only possible means that you can transfer datas from your PC to your fone (and vice-versa) is thru IR, Bluetooth, MMS (air), SMS (air) . . . .

@JN - yes you can transfer using USB cable to k700.

@tidytrev - didnt you get a CD with drivers for the USB cable when you bought it ?

if you did install that first !

and once you've done that, check if your system detects that

start->control panel->system->hardware tab->com ports

it should be listed there along with com1 and com2 and printer port.

Once you've done that, dont use the original se software to transfer files (EXTREMELY SLOW) , pm me with your e-mail id and i'll send you a s/w which transfers files FAST to your k700.

Hope I found a good thread.

I've got a problem with connecting my K700i to a PC with a new USB cable. I've installed the drivers before putting the cable in, after that the cable has been detected properly, it even recharges my phone but doesn't connect. FMA doesn't see my phone, neighter does SE software. What am I doing wrong?

And I've found the simple solution as well - set the correct port in settings menu of FMA! Bloody hell
