You should also be aware that if u select 'auto' u can see the clock screensaver. If u select powersave the screen goes blank

Yeah . . . I use the setting on the 'powersave' then, specially when I had not updated it to the R2L... firmware- batt consuming indeed! I guess it will just be useless to set it 'ON' and you are most of the time/day - OUT !

the screen is completely turned off when you select powersave, but you can still bring the clock by pressing one of the volume keys. at least on k500.

The light off feature is only really useful if you're trying to squeeze every last hour of battery life out of your phone. Most phones will not even give you the option to turn off the backlighting - so it's nice that sony do.

of course they do!

i havent used one phone which disallows this.

and by the way, its sony ericsson

Guess I'll have to change my glasses, cause I don't see these options anywhere.

Well I use the "Light off" function to play in the day time the radio function, I just turn off light, get a good angle of view to get to the Radio menu, then I store the K700 in my belt clip and walk to my house, so my hand just goes to the belt clip and moves the joystick up/down to change stations.
Itīs very useful, because in any other "Light" option when u change of station, the light turns on, so itīs very good for u to save battery life.
Just my experience.
