There is a freeware like that:
3gptoavi
It is not on the site anymore, but a search will help you.
You can also download it from http://www.zoezozo.it/download.htm or contact me, and I can mail it to you.

Do notice, the avi is very big, uncompressed. I suggest you compress it with virtualdub or other software.

Here is the programmes I use:

3gpp -> avi (or wmv)
RiverPast VideoCleaner, www.riverpast.com
Use a general (ie not DivX/XviD etc) codec for the output video

"any" format -> 3gpp
Nokia Multimedia Converter 2 (www.forum.nokia.com/main/0,,034-63,00.html)

There also is:
PVauthor, www.pv.com/shop/authordownload.asp
Mpegable, www.mpegable.com
but those are just trialware (not free)

darengf, Who ever told you that you can convert video to 3GPP format using free software is wrong. Aple quic Time pro is not free.
Next of all QT pro does not work directly or correctly if you want to have sound on your video at least on the PC platform.

I have just spent AUD$49.95 to find this out.

Dont worry there is a work arround provided you have Ulead Video studio 6 onwards. You install QT pro and then use Ulead to convert your Mpeg video to a.mov video file. Though quicktime is supposed to do this it doesn't do it properly whilst the ulead product does.

Then you open the .mov file in the quicktime program and convert that to your 3Gpp using the export function.

I have successfully moved a couple of my favourite videos over to my phone and they take very little space on my 512 MB memory card.

I once used the XILIsoft vedio convertor to convert

MPEG -> 3gpp and visa versa.

I was not so impressed by the quality, of the vedios I took from PC to Phone.

And way, have somebody tried recording on a TV/PC screen.

I did that while my phone was still new I was a very good quality.

Cool, oKs

Angelos.. Chill mate ! IMtoo is a shareware that does allow converting files upto a two minute limit. @Bongzino> The last I EVER tried motion grabbing PC images is over a decade back !! Pentium 486, Windoze 3.11 AND the VERY amazing Lotus Smartsuite. The whole s/ware would come on 10 or 14 floppyzz ! ! Had a movie maker utility.. I miss it Man :( Now you have every Tom D and Harry with a TV Tuner card & accompanying s/ware recording stuff.. This message was posted from a S700

I am not sure what the matter is with Imtoo

Maybe I am messing the settings.

But audio becames faster than the video.

I tried a few combinations and defaults.
