i'd also like to point out that quite a bit of my posts are helpful: they help people out with bt dongle driver issues, flashing fw, ebaying, bj'ing

, GPRS settings here in the U.S., etc. etc.
I still do post of useful and serious posts.

I also notice a group of people who seem only to come to esato now to post in the garbage and mobile phone free forums and a few throw-away comments in a couple of mobile forums.
Also I'd like to point out that not all of us are cell phone experts--we may be geeks who love our gadgets but frankly we couldn't hold a dsicussion about the marketing strategy

is using by overpricing the s700 or what the difference is in the photoreceptor of cell phone cameras and resolution, etc. They may seem throwaway but i think there are quite a few posts that try to help.
For example, if someone posts asking for ringtones, i don't usually post a step-by-step guide to downloading ringers, i just post a site or link or something. It may seem throwaway, but its actually quite useful.

In future I propose to lock threads more rather than moving them to garbage and letting them go crazy, if only so that garbage doesn't take over esato so much and we can present a more, I dunno, professional and serious appearance as a mobile phone forum where frivolity and such take a smaller part in the daily goings on.
I can say that I do let garbage go on more at the weekends when people are supposed to chill and relax but during the week I would like to see alot less of it
Isn't esato considered the biggest

resource in the world? How has Garbage affected that? Not much, I think.
And esato isn't a business, its a open forum. It shouldn't have to be absolutely dedicated to

; there's still a lot of room for enjoyment!
I mean, when's the last time anyone logged on to esato and thought of it as a business? Yes, it may require money to run and there are some adverts and 'buy your ringtone here' links on the home page, but it is essentially a forum.

I have to say, im with kim on this one. almost every forum, on any subject, has a garbage, or general chit-chat forum. Why should esato be any different? It gives the members an opportunity to get to know one another, it has helped esato become a really friendly place with a terrific atmosphere. Look at the sitcom lookalikes thread, and the posting style impressions thread. very popular they were, everyone had a laugh. Its proof (to me, anyway) that esato has a strong sense of community, members know each other so well we can predict what they will say, who will reply in what thread, and, the general mood of someone. You just dont get that on other forums, not to the same extent. Yes there is a lot of junk, a LOT, but i would be wary of a "cull".
Why is it just garbage? Look at the thread for uk users...nothing useful is said there, but ive never, not once, seen any moderator presence there. That thread has a monstous amount of crap posted in it, far, far, more than garbage does. There are members who never peek outside of it, but they arent being talked about for not posting in mobile threads.
There is perhaps too much garbage, but it breaks the ice, it shows new members we can have a laugh as well as be phone geeks. Some people can only learn, or want to learn, so much about their phone. I think its a testament to Esato's spirit that a lot of people hang arounds after they have gotten the info they want, Even if some of it is garbage, at the end of the day, the more members the better.
Stop picking on the regular garbage posters, we love Esato too!

Every POST made here truly makes SENSE . . . But to just cut and make it SHORT . . . either The Garbage Thread or the Mobile Free Phone Zone Thread - just have to GO or be deleted - IMO ! But I guess it will JUST be impossible, as @laffen made the Blueprint of this website. Now, as long as these forums are available and OPEN, it will just be POSTED upon - unconsciously, perhaps I think
Also, had there been some pre-requisites to become a member here (pre-registration), that you must be a celfone/PC/gadget geek/Einstein before entering this site . . probabilities are VERY high that only a handful will sign and be counted in . . .
I JUST cannot wait to SEE the effect of some plans when implemented - locking of threads in the Garbage Forum

Maybe it will minimize the posting, but then what . . .
I like what @blackspot said in his post, saying that : "Even a CLEAN house has it's GARBAGE too" !

jojo if you agree with us, then why do you want to see garbage go? No more login-logout, no more m&m advice, no more pictures in your head, no more, no more, no more.

I agree completely with kim.
If you dont want to see garbage on the forum, the garbage forum was made for this so you dont have to browse through it if you dont want to see it...do it because obviously your not.
Garbage forum is named wrong because we dont talk complete garbage there we talk about anything but its not garbage, they are usually proper conversations

I have no problem with Garbage threads even though I don't recall ever posting in them!
I hover over the general & P900 forums. But, if Garbage is effecting the viability, management, efficiency of the Esato system then maybe some limits need to be impossed.

perhaps just a little reminder at this point that the garbage forum was not made for people to post garbage. It was put there for moderators to move threads that had gone way off topic or for threads which members should "read at their own risk" or for various other reasons.
Indeed laffen even set it up so that members could not create threads there via the web interface but people have found ways around that restriction and the loopholes have not been closed as yet
I can only repeat that there is no harm in some fun on Esato but when people just sit there thinking up any old stuff to create in garbage that when I disagree as it does lower the quality overall and quite often some of that overflows into threads where people are trying to solve problems etc taking that thread off topic. I've lost count of how many threads I have had to get back on topic because of this.
I'm sorry but I don't think my mind will be changed on this topic
