I never understood why makers include an extra batt in the package without packing a cradle too!Is it cuz a traveling charger is simpler?Hell,i NEED that cradle to keep my extra battery charged!I'm not about to swap 'em every other day.. This message was posted from a T610

I think you'll find that the whole powering off thing is a safety measure, to protect the battery. As I said earlier, Lithium-ion and Lithium Polymer batteries should NEVER be run down flat, so some devices will automatically power off the device in question once it reaches a certain point, so as to ensure that you don't run the battery COMPLETELY flat and therefore ruin the battery...
