What I like most about this application is the ability to view next apointment in flip close mode at a glance and the ability to hide own number when dialing. It has a lot of potential, in my opinion. Lets not forget that this is just a first beta!

It would only be useful to those using the flip, I NEVER see the flip-closed screen & hence it's no use to me.
For others though the clock is obviously useful, some people like to change operator logo, the calendar tasks are displayed, management of running apps etc.

You can do that anyway

You can set hiding your own number when dialing as default. I think its not possible to do it through the control panel! Is it? :?

It doesnt sound to me like it provides any USEFUL function!
Can someone, before I download it, tell me why its worth having? It seems all it does is stop things working!

Major features are:
- Configurable "operator logo" - you can display your own text, the upcoming calendar event, or the network status
- Display of geographical position
- Enhanced time and date display
- Graphical system information icons showing background program count, free memory and drive space, battery and signal strength, and more
- Cleaning up system resources to maximize free memory and battery life
- Support for dialing, call list and starting other flip closed applications
- Large digit clock screensaver
I like the configurable Operator Logo for starters...
The geographical position is based on cell id. and cell tower triangulation.. not GPS, but it's okay. (feature that can also be found in like Magic Profiles Pro)
The enhanced time and date display is VERY subjective.. right now it seems to operate and display only in the 24-hr format, so right now my phone/screensaver tells me its 20:26. (I'd prefer 8:26PM or 08:26PM not twenty hundred hours and 26 minutes)
The Graphical system information icons are okay.. kinda remind me of Norton System Doctor for the P9XX, but does have some useful info in a compressed display.
The Cleaning up thing is where Sman still my favorite, as you can selective clean-up via snapshot or what not.. so you can close what you don't need, but keep alive the programs that you do. FrontView just kills everything that isn't a system program.
The Support for dialing, call list and starting other flip closed applications - technically this is a no-brainer.. if this lacked the feature the program would be junk, as you would need to close FrontView.. then dial, or look at your call list.. or start other FC apps AND then restart FrontView. (Technically you need to restart FrontView when ever you look at your call log via the "6 Call List" option, as FrontView becomes "suspended". To restart FrontView, you have to open and close the flip or Go Menu Button -> #Applications -> Scroll down and JogDial click on FrontView. Another mild inconvenience I just found)
Last Large Digit Clock Saver.. my second favorite feature, second to the customizable operator logo, is Large enough that it may just be Ophthalmologist recommended! Again the only gripe is the 24-hour clock display.. would like AM/PM/12-hour clock display!
SO there you have it.. again these are just features that have some function and a lot of form... try it out and well if you don't like it.. just uninstall it and never look back!

I see. No normally you have to turn it on each time u dial a number.
About the Geographical Location feature, I guess it's like MiniGPS where you have to go to every area & tell it the name for it to know it?

Thanks guys for the comments both here and in Emails. The following requested features are now planned to be added before the release:
- AM/PM option for the clock
- configurable (selective) cleanup
- (some kind of) application shortcuts
- more P800 support (we need "specialized" testers for this!)
Some answers:
Quote:Technically you need to restart FrontView when ever you look at your call log via the "6 Call List" option, as FrontView becomes "suspended". To restart FrontView, you have to open and close the flip or Go Menu Button -> #Applications -> Scroll down and JogDial click on FrontView.
In FC mode FrontView should "come back" after some idle time by itself. To reinvoke faster, you can assign FrontView to the 'OK' key. Configure this in Control panel - Application shortcuts. Just select FrontView as the middle icon for flip closed mode and then you can reinvoke it from the "old standby view" with the 'OK' key any time.
Quote:About the Geographical Location feature, I guess it's like MiniGPS where you have to go to every area & tell it the name for it to know it?
FrontView automatically saves those areas (locations) where you spend enough time for characterizing. You only need to give meaningful names for the areas and you are prompted to do so whenever a saved but unnamed area is recognized.

Agreed except that please look back, the stuff is being improved!
Quote:How much duz it cost? I am willing to pay at maximum 20USD for it. Is it possible to buy it?
It's not sold before its quality is good enough for the release.
Thx again!

A flip-closed calculator would complete this software for me and place it in the $20 bracket.
Cheers
