@Frubin:
If they said and wapchimp said, that Orange UK doesn't support this kind of service, then all you've got is that find a provider that suport sms2email, like Greggy said, and use that number. I really don't think that your T610 doesn't suport, because I can use it even on my T68i, I'm on Orange RO and they have this service, I use for email gateway the number that they gave me for CSD internet access (not wap!).
May I have a suggestion? You should use your GPRS account and the built-in client for email, but the decision is yours

Happy holidays!

@frubin. Ur handset has that feature but orange uk do not as they offer pop3 access. Its cheaper to send a basic email this way (3p) than text! This message was posted from a Nokia

@ Greggy: Ok i have a look into the kind of sms-services providers there is out there.

@ _ANDI_: Oh Ok. Either way i am happy using my GPRS to access my email account but i will try your suggestion and use the CSD internet access number as a email gateway and see if that works.

@ wapchimp: Oh, ok. I guess it does depend on the network that your on and the and the handset provider.

Thanks for all your help on this guys!

Last question. Is this how send a message using sms - email option: eg: username@domainname.co.uk (message) to the email gateway number provided?

@Frubin: as I posted earlier in my case the SMS sent to the email gateway looked like this: email address followed by a space then the message, but in email address I needed to replace the @ with : (double dot)

@ _ANDI_: Ok. I tried sending a sms to emai to myself using the Orange CSD WAP number as a email gateway. It got send and delivered ok but i didnt recieve it as i have email notification with my email provider, Orange.net so i can see any new emails which is delivered as a text message on my handset.

So i guess i could consider Greggy's suggestion in using a forigen sms to email provider but that will cost me anything up to 20p (or more) to send a text message to a forigen network. Unless i can find a free UK based one?

@Frubin: Sad to hear that. :-( Anyway IMO don't bother yourself with it while you have the GPRS/POP3 option. ;-) This message was posted from a T68i
