Don't bother with '3' either. Everyone I know who is on it struggles to get 3G signal in many areas anyway and the Network is ALWAYS dropping calls or simply failing to connect. The worst times are when it keeps gettin just a little bit of 3G signal as then it keeps switchin from 2G to 3G and loses connections in the process

P910i is much better than A1000 if you dont use 3G.

Granted GPS could be useful. But i'm lucky I have good spacial awareness and know where i am the vast majority of the time. (fri/sat nights not with standing but operating a phone is just as tricky at the time of night.)

But the thing with GPS that worries me is the potenial for advertisers. How long before they start sending you texts every 10meters telling you to go into this store and that store?

i had to decide between the 2 as well. but the main reasons i chose the p900 was because 1) its still retained its value even after a long time so selling wont be a problem 2)i never trust 3g phones 3)the cam on the a1000 isnt worth even noting cause its utter bs 4)the p900 is a very loved and popular phone so thats got to be worth something and 5) I hate 3g phones

well in my review I mentioned quite a few problems with the A1000.
As I said, I got it because it was the best 3g phone at the moment and I wanted to get a 3 contract due to the half price rental (20 pounds) for 750 minutes and 150 messages. For a super super user I dont think it'll be enough, but hey. Free phone good minutes.

As a comparison on what to buy, I'd definately say go with a P series. They're reliable, alot of software for it (A1000 has glitches with third party software) AND it has a soft reset. Something the A1K DESPERATELY needs. I hate Motorola after getting the E1000 (yes I meant E not A) I'm sure many people wont like it if your buying it for the phone and not getting it for a deal.

Well I have gone from a P900 to a A1000 and never looked back The build quality is vastly better, its smaller & feels lighter plus its got a hardware screen lock (no more screen lighting up when in my pocket) the gripe I have is text input which is sluggish to start up. As for 3 will it DOES depend on were you live, Were I live (Nottingham) Ive had very few problems with drop calls (after 100 minutes use and counting) and coverage is better than Vodafone 3G (which I tried before buying a A1000) Conclusion A1000 is a better handset than my old P900, but thats my personal choose.

Just a little food for thought

Due to Three's desperate pricing strategy you can pick these up at ricdiculous prices

I've just bought one , and the total I will hand over for it (including a years LR ) is £202.50

I wouldn't have been able to get even a p800 sim free for that money !

The best part is , I'll have it unlocked and onto o2 within a month , plus I am told there will soon be a Motorola flash available , so I'll be rid of the Three branding too
As a little bonus there are also the 500 xnet minutes on the sim for 6 months (dropping to 100 for the last 6)
So whether or not it matches/beats the P900 on performance , it definately kicks it's ass as far as cost is concerned !
